The industry and academia are focusing their efforts on finding more efficient reliable electrical machines motor drives. However, many of the motors driven by pulse-width modulated converters face recurring problem common-mode voltage (CMV). In fact, this leads to other problems such as bearing breakdown, deterioration stator winding insulation electromagnetic interferences (EMI) that can affect lifespan correct operation motors. sense, multilevel have proven be a useful tool for solving these mitigating CMV over past few decades. Among reasons, because they provide additional degrees freedom when comparing with two-level converters. although there several proposals in scientific literature topic, no complete information has been reviewed about issues different alternatives used solve it. context, objective work is determine how power make reduction possible using specific modulation techniques, making it easier engineers scientists field find solutions problem. This document consists descriptive study collects strengths weaknesses most important converters, special emphasis affects each them. addition, differences techniques aimed explained terms output voltage, operating linear range, generated CMV. Considering last, recommended use those allow generation levels 0 V order able completely eliminate said voltage.
